Metrohm NIRS: Calibration for the biochemical methane potential

Objectives of Flash BMP (biochemical methane potential) using NIRS:

Replace the costly and lengthy (>30 days) reference measurement of BMP by fast NIR assessment and improve the industrial anaerobic digester monitoring (Lesteur et al., 2010).

The Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) provides information regarding the efficiency of the anaerobic fermentation process of a substrate in biogas production.

If the BMP is known, then waste storage can be adjusted accordingly, thus optimizing fermentation. Near-infrared spectroscopy with Flash BMP® calibration is suitable for rapid and simple determination of the BMP.
