Two columns running different eluents
Ion chromatography is the chosen technique for oxyhalide analysis and, with persulfate digestion, quantification of total nitrogen and phosphorus is now simpler with ion chromatography too. While both of these applications are ideal for environmental laboratories, they have required two columns running different eluents.
Different columns and eluents mean down time and limit the effectiveness of an automated system. It is of no use racking up 40 samples overnight if the system would need to be re-configured after 20.
One system, one method, one sample rack, multiple analyses: Total N, P and Oxyhalides with one column
With Metrohm’s A Supp 7 separation column, it is now possible to perform total nitrogen and phosphate in digested sample as well as standard anions and oxyhalides in undigested samples.
