Drinking water – Analysis of disinfection by products

Thousands have lived without love, not one without water. W.H. Auden

While it is true that life requires water, it is equally important to have water clear of contaminants that are harmful. With water being sourced from more sources, and purified in more varied ways, it is becoming ever-increasingly critical to monitor these, potentially harmful, by-products.

Oxyhalides, such as Bromate and Chlorate, are by-products of some of the processes used to purify water that is being used for human consumption. EPA method 300.1 A and B specify ion chromatography for the analysis of oxyhalides alongside standard anions in water.
