Metrohm is pleased to present an Application Bulletin presenting the basics of pH measurement.

pH Basics Explained

Application Bulletin 188 “pH measurement technique” explains the basics of pH measurement. It starts with prerequisites such as electrode calibration, reagents needed, and potential error sources on the side of the hardware (diaphragm, gel layer and response behaviour). The bulletin also continues to explain how to conduct an electrode test and various aspects of appropriate electrode care.

It ends with an outlook at pH measurement in different media. A list of references where to find more information on pH measurement is also included.

As this Bulletin is intended for practical use, the theoretical aspects (that can be found in numerous textbooks and publications) are treated only briefly.
