Three ADI 2019 Process Colorimeters have been installed in a desalination plant in Australia. With the instrument, the boron concentration can be analysed on-line at real-time and immediate responses can be made whenever the threshold value is exceeded.
Metrohm has recently installed three Metrohm-Applikon ADI 2019 Process Colorimeters to perform on-line boron analysis in a local Australian desalination plant.
The ADI 2019 Process Colorimeter performs photometric absorption measurements in the visible light range and also contains a thermostated cuvette with 3 cm light path and LED technology. The colour development is detected automatically by using differential absorbance measurements.
The limit of boron concentration of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant permeate is 0.5 mg/L. With the ADI 2019 Process Colorimeter installed, the boron concentration can be analysed on-line at real-time and immediate responses can be made whenever the threshold value is exceeded.
