Ultra trace iron and copper in condensates and drum waters

Ultra trace iron and copper in condensates and drum waters

A weekly trial data in an Australian power plant.

For Power Plants: Online ultra trace iron and copper in boiler’s condensates and drum waters

Monitoring FAC (flow accelerated corrosion) is essential. The classic method of the measurements was to manually collect the samples for over a day or even a week, which make the process adjustment to minimize FAC took weeks or even months. Now Metrohm Process Analytics has developed a new cutting-edge tool to monitor FAC in real-time. With the new powerful tool you are able to observe your process when FAC occurs and monitor it closely in time.

Target value for iron is normally less than 1 to 5 ppb. With Metrohm Process Analytics online voltammetric analyser iron can be measured down to 0.1 ppb.

Sample can be processed with and without automatic digestion allowing for separate analysis of soluble and particulate iron and copper.

Advantages:

No need for manual sample collection over a long time. Stop FAC before it affects the power plant efficiency, increasing downtime and maintenance costs.

Analysis Range for Fe (II), Fe (III), Fe(OH)2. Soluble Iron + optional Cu
0.2 – 80 ppb
Accurate analysis range 2 decades
Detection limit 0.2 ppb
Accuracy better than 10% from measured value or 0.2 ppb
Repeatability better than 10% from measured value or 0.2 ppb

Analysis Time: appr. 15 minutes per sample stream

Analysis Range for total Fe + optional total Cu
0.5 – 100 ppb
Accurate analysis range 2 decades
Detection limit 0.5 ppb
Accuracy better than 10% from measured value or 0.5 ppb
Repeatability better than 10% from measured value or 0.5 ppb

Analysis Time: appr. 35 minutes per sample stream

Sample: Condensates and drum waters, 1 – 4 sample streams, optional cooling water, Ni, Cu, Zn and Fe
