Cation suppression in ion chromatography

Improved sensitivity for trace level analysis

Trace analysis of cations, amines, and transition metals is possible with or without suppression. However, if lowest detection limits and lowest preconcentration volumes are required, sequential cation suppression has its advantages.

Sequential cation suppression by Metrohm is based on the proven Metrohm Suppressor Module (MSM), packed with a carbonate anion exchanger.

Typical applications are:
• Transition metals in aqueous extracts
• Ammonium determination in difficult matrices
• Aliphatic and aromatic amines in pharmaceuticals
• Cations in the ultratrace range
